Before You Dive In…
Let’s make sure we’re on the same page in terms of terminology. For the context of SBSF Collabs, here are some terms that’ll be used and how I’m defining them.
SBSF Collabs Terminology
- Bundle: A collection of thematically related and curated resources that have been contributed by a select group of Contributors. Even if it’s not in the name of the bundle (that’s bundle with a small “b”) — like the Hit the Ground Running Giveaway and the Quick Wins Action Pack — it’s a Bundle.
- Summit: My generic term for summits, expos, and other collaborative events that are not “just” Bundles, but include presentations, demos, etc. as a focal point of the Event.
- Event: My generic collective term for Bundles, Summits, etc.
- Waitlist: A mechanism for prospective Bundle/Summit-Goers to register their interest in the Event before the Event opens/goes live, usually accompanied by special perks like an exclusive free gift or early access to the Event.
- Tier: A price/resources level (for Bundles/Summits with more than one option (e.g., $0 Tier with freebies and a $27 Tier with additional premium resources).
- Host: SBSF (That’d be me!).
- Contributor/Collaborator/Speaker/Presentor/Partner: Anyone donating a resource/presentation/etc. to a Bundle/Summit/Event.
- Contribution (aka Goodie): A resource from a Contributor that’s included in a Bundle/Summit.
- Bundle/Summit/Event-Goer or Attendee: Anyone who signs up for a Bundle/Summit (or even Waitlist).
- Subscriber: Anyone who gets added to our email lists by signing up for our Contribution(s) to a Bundle/Summit.
- Affiliate: Anyone who’s signed up (via ThriveCart) to promote SBSF Events (or other products) in exchange for sales commissions.
- Sponsor: Any Contributor (or other biz) who’s invested in amplified and prioritized positioning and additional special perks at an Event.

All freebies pertain to business communications, content programming, copywriting, or related systems. These things are shortcuts people can use help connect with, converse with, and/or compel/convert their audiences. To drive biz success.
The timing of this Bundle is deliberate. We’re trying to reach people returning from holidays, vacas, travel, etc. We’re helping them shift gears and get back into a productive work mindset and action-oriented routines.

This mid-year freemium Event aims to relight the fire of ambition, motivation, accomplishment — whatever you call that mobilized energy in your belly that drives you to actually get sh*t done and fulfill goals. It’s intended to be a fun and easy-breezy reminder/support to stick with all things comms, content, and copy during this period when drive starts to taper off….
The structure for this Event is TBD. I expect it’ll be a mix of on-demand Summit + co-working/collab sessions + some live workshops or Q&A + a GID challenge. I may also do an Open House to my membership. A swag bag will be involved as well. Think fun, light, interactive, engaging. I’m open to ideas for what to do/include!

Event Premise & Purpose
This more-than-just-a-Bundle experience aims to give small biz folx bit-sized, actionable tools, templates, and other resources to help them communicate better in/about their businesses. There will also be an audio-only presentation component to this event.
There are two tiers for this Bundle so Subscribers can join at a price point that’s comfortable to them. The free tier will offer freebies. The paid tier wil include premium resources. As Contributors, I think this offers a nice balance of list building for volume (i.e., max # of leads) and quality (i.e., warm leads). (And offers an opp to earn a little money in exchange for the work and value we’re putting in.)
The Redemption Window is short by design.
- Timing’s intended to get bundle-goers onto your list and welcomed before the pre-holiday and holiday seasons kick into high gear.
- It’s a small, focused Bundle. People should be able to explore/opt into gifts quickly.

About the Bundle
- Theme: Mid-Year Push.
- Audience: Action-oriented small biz folx who’re seeking shortcuts and streamlining.
- # Contributors: 20-30.
- Expected Reach: TBD (2024, the first year for this Bundle, there were 24 Contributors. 859 people signed up for the Bundle. My Bundle Contributions were claimed by an average of 169 people. However, the format of the Bundle is changing this year.)
- Bundle Format: Paid, but with a free Tier offering Contributors’ free lead magnets. All Subscribers will be invited to Take Action Sessions. Paid Tier includes a Resources Tracker. There will probably also be an Exclusive Deals and/or Bonus Offer section in both Tiers.
- Bundle Price: Baby Steps Tier – Free; Big Strides Tier – $8ish USD, then $12ish USD. Once Subscribers pay to access the Big Strides Tier, they can claim any contributed items for free (i.e., they aren’t paying anything additional). I’m going to experiment with a lower quick-action price and then bump it up to a higher price point mid-cart. Final price of paid Tier may change based on the number of items contributed. (e.g., If there are 15 items, the prices will be $7/$11 but if there are closer to 30 items, the prices will be $9/$13.)

- I aim to make this not just a bundle, but an event or experience — both for Contributors and Subscribers. Details TBD. But, I want this bundle to stand out as something special and impactful.

- Because this is intended to be a stepping stone into the world of your paid offers, a lower-ticket (sub-$200?) offer is probably best. (People are unlikely to go from grabbing freebies/an ultra-low-ticket Bundle pass to dropping $1,000s on a program straightaway….)

The total number of sponsorship positions will depend on the total number of Contributors. If we have 20 Contributors, there’ll be 5 Sponsor opps; if we have 25 Contributors, there’ll be 6 Sponsor opps; if we have 30 Contributors, there’ll be 7 Sponsor opps. There will be no more than three Sponsors at each sponsorship level.

- Feature blurb in my regular Tuesday newsletter to my Welcomed Subscribers (i.e., about 1,450 people as of 1/15/25, during Open Cart Period)

This paid Bundle aims to give small biz folx bit-sized, actionable tools, templates, and other resources to help them start planning for next year.
The timing and duration of this Bundle is deliberate. We’re trying to reach folx before holiday chaos begins. We want to give people enough time (but not too much time!) to grab their gifts and start using them before the Halloween to New Years period.
There are 3 tiers for this Bundle so Subscribers can join at a price point that’s comfortable to them. As Contributors, I think this offers a nice balance of list building for volume (i.e., max # of leads) and quality (i.e., warm leads). (And offers an opp to earn a little money in exchange for the work and value we’re putting in.)

- Templates, forms, checklists, SOPs, swipes, tools, etc. are great.
- Bundles of usually-separately-sold items and multi-part trainings/programs — as long as the items can be accessed in a single place (i.e., subscriber doesn’t need to click multiple links and log in multiple times to access each item in your bundle) — are OK.
- Stand-alone workshops or mini-trainings as long as they’re short (less than about an hour), pre-recorded/on-demand, and cover a single, well-defined topic.
- X number of free months membership offers are fine — as long as no CC is required to access. PLR, template-based, and “resource vault” type memberships are a better fit, but coaching and other kinds of memberships may work as well.
- No 1:1 offers, future live events, or pre-sells. But, you can offer this as your Add-On.
- No lengthy/complex/many-parts items (focus is still on providing resources that Subscribers can grab and start implementing ASAP). But, you can offer this kind of thing as your Add-On.
- Add-Ons: Bumps, tripwires, upsells, downsells, cross-sells, etc. allowed as long as no CC is required to check out for your Contribution.

Eligibility Criteria

- No minimum list size or number of followers needed — we’re all here to build our audiences!
- Must be willing and able to fulfill the promotional requirement stated below.
- Your Contribution must be exclusive:
- Cannot contribute an item to an SBSF Event that you contributed to another event in the 3 months prior to the SBSF Event’s Cart Open period.
- Cannot promote the same item(s) that you’re contributing to an SBSF Event in another collaborative event (e.g., a bundle or summit that features a swag bag) during the Waitlist, Cart Open, or Redemption periods.
- For Bundles, your Contribution must be done and have a live landing/sales page when you apply. (This is bc I do a 1-step application process.)
- You’re able to receive emails from me. And commit to reading and responding promptly as needed.
- Other Contribution requirements depend on the Event/Tier you’re contributing to — be sure to check each Event’s details.

Subscribers, Affiliates, and Sponsors get added to my email list as part of the sign-up process.
I send Contributor/Sponsor info and materials via my regular email. SBSF Affiliate Corps messages are sent via my ESP.
You’re also invited and encouraged to join the SBSF Collaborators & Partners Facebook group for community and support related to SBSF collabs.
Promo Commitment

Collabs are only effective and equitable if we all pull our weight. We all need to do our best to let our peeps know these things are available for them and to help grow each other’s lists.
We’re all busy. We’re all adults. Fulfilling your promotional requirements is on the honor system — not gonna noodge you or ask for proof.
BUT, I will ask you to inform me of the dates of your promos and if I don’t see them I will probably mention it (without naming names) in the Contributor Update emails. As the Host, it’s my duty to do what’s in my control to help ensure max success of the Event for everyone involved: you, other Contributors, Sponsors, our audiences, and me. We all put a lot of time and effort into participating in collabs, so let’s squeeze ever drop of impact and value out of them!
Failure to promote as you’ve committed to will result in you not being allowed to participate in future SBSF Collabs. Sorry not sorry — gotta be a stickler about this non-negotiable!
If you’re unable to meet the promo requirements but still want to be involved with the Event — let me know! I have other ways you can participate that don’t require promoting but that are still value-packed win-win-win opportunities! (e.g., sponsorships, Exclusive Offers, cross-promotions, events, etc.)
Email/Social Media Promotion
As a Contributor, you’re committing to publicizing the Event. The basic requirement is two promos. You can do one of the following:
- 1 Solo Email & 1 Email PS/Blurb
- 1 Solo Email & 1 Social Post
- 2 Social Posts
Promote where you have the largest/most engaged audience to maximze exposure and sign-up potential.
I provide swipes and graphics for you. But you can always go rogue and create your own.
You’re welcome to do more promoting. And you can also promo via blog posts, live events, etc. as long as it’s effective and efficient given your audience. Go YOU! 😛
Waitlist Promo
Most of SBSF Events will have a Waitlist. The Waitlist sign-up period is usually the 7 days leading up to the Event Open Cart. When the Event opens, the Waitlist closes.
I send an email announcement to my list on the first day of the Waitlist.
If there’s a Waitlist for the Event , you may be required to do your primary promo during this period. If Waitlist promo is required, it will be indicated with the info and on the Application for the Event. If Waitlist promo isn’t required, it’ll still be encouraged and can count towards your Event promo requirement.
Event Logo on Sales Page
SBSF Event are branded events. As such, if possible without too much trouble, featuring the Event’s logo on your landing or sales page, invoice, related emails, etc. is appreciated!
The logo for each Event is included in its Promo Packet.
Biggest Reach Possible
SBSF Events are smaller by design. This reduces overwhelm and friction for Subscribers/Attendees. Allows for opportunities to connect more personally. Offers greater exposure for each Contributor/Sponsor. Enables us to showcase our offers and value.
The tradeoff is that the reach of the Contributor pool is gonna be smaller than that of a mega-event. (Tho your visibility with each Attendee will probs be greater!)
So, let’s get creative! I’m open to out-of-the-box strategies to expand our reach beyond that of Contributors’ email lists. Things I’ve done in the past include:
- Cross-promotions with non-Contributors
- Promoting in Facebook groups and other event directories
- Getting featured on other business’s promo calendars
- Called up the SBSF Affiliate Corps
- [Attempted to] recruit second-tier affiliates
Someday, maybe I’ll try ads…. Anyhoo — what other ideas have you got? Let’s hear ’em!

Adherence to ethical practices is a non-negotiable. So, Contributors must:
- Follow GDPR, CCPA, and Can-Spam requirements and any other applicable laws
- Follow marketing best practices
- Do double opt-in email confirmation and/or have a marketing permission checkbox on their sign-up form/sales page
- Commit to not sharing or selling the data from new Subscribers to others
- Commit to not spamming new Subscribers — treat ’em good y’all!
- Have a Privacy Policy in place and accessible to Subscribers (like on your website)
- Have Terms & Conditions in place and accessible to Subscribers (like on your website)
- Just be nice and kind and generous of spirit

Costs to Participate
There’s no cost — like an application or participation fee — to contribute to an SBSF Event.
Sponsorship and other featured roles/placements may be offered and will be paid opportunities. The fees and terms for those options will be clearly stated.
Commissions for Affiliates
All SBSF Events (at least the sign-up component) will be hosted on ThriveCart. You’ll be able to sign up as an Affiliate and use an affiliate link when promoting the Event.
You aren’t required to become an Affiliate but I highly recommend doing so. You’re going to be promoting the Events anyway — might as well up your earnings potential! 😜
- For free Events/Tiers, you could earn a commission if anyone buys my bumps or upsells. (Prob won’t get you rich, but you’ll be able to get a cheap cup of coffee!)
- For paid Events/Tiers, you could earn a commission on the price the Subscriber/Attendee paid for the Event and from my bumps/upsells they opt to buy via my Contribution(s) to the Event.
- You could also earn commissions on my other affiliate-promo-eligible products. If the lead you brought in buys something under your active affiliate code — you’re looking at even more payout. Cha-ching!!! So, this means you have the potential to earn way after the Event ends.
